A delivery driver for Coles online was ‘exposed’ to COVID19 without knowing about it. The driver then worked the Saturday and Sunday shift at Coles delivery.

On Wednesday Moorabool Online reported that a Coles delivery driver was ‘exposed’ to COVID. Staff that worked during the same shifts that the driver did were immediately told to isolate and get tested as soon as possible.

The store closed that evening at 6pm to undergo a deep clean and allow staff to isolate and get tested.

On the Thursday 12th August, Moorabool Online learnt that the store would be listed as a Tier 1 site with DHHS confirming the news with text messages sent to some staff. COVIDPete also reported the news that Coles would be a Tier 1 exposure site.

The store again closed at 6pm on Thursday and we believe underwent further deep cleans.

On Friday 13th, DHHS listed Coles as a Tier 1 exposure site. The confirmation sent Facebook pages and users into a frenzy as to what this meant and who should and shouldn’t be tested.

Within the hour, the advice from DHHS changed with an amendment made to the Tier 1 listing. The listing is for ‘staff and their household only.’

Understandably, this caused a lot of confusion as people were panicked and sharing information they thought was correct.

It prompted the Moorabool Shire Council to post clarification on their Facebook page, but still the news that everyone there on the weekend should be tested.

So to confirm, as things stand right now (6:00am 14/8/2021), the Tier 1 threat is for staff and their households only. Coles and DHHS are confident that NO public exposure has taken place, which allows for the threat to be contained to staff only.
