July 8th, Removalists travelling from Sydney to Adelaide stopped at the Mobil service station on the Western Highway.
July 12th, The Mobil service station and McDonalds restaurant were added to the list of Tier 1 contact sites. The exposure is deemed to have occured between 5pm and 7pm on Thursday 8th July.
In response a COVID testing clinic was setup in Ballan at the Ballan train station. Anyone who was at these sites is asked to get tested immediately and isolate for 14 days.
If you show any of the symptoms associated with COVID, you should immediately get tested.
July 14th, Bacchus Marsh Grammar announced a teacher had tested positive to COVID-19. The teacher was at the school on Monday, however no students were. Students returned to school on Tuesday, while the teacher was absent Tuesday and Wednesday.
Bacchus Marsh Grammar have closed both of their schools at Bacchus Marsh and Woodlea until teachers return a negative test result. If the school is closed beyond Monday, students will go back to remote learning.
Sources say the teacher does not live in Bacchus Marsh, however the DHHS COVID reports indicated there are two active cases in the Moorabool Shire.
While rumors are swirling around that the case at Ballan and Bacchus Marsh are directly linked, the Herald Sun reports the teacher is a friend of a man in the Ariele Apartment Complex. The pair visited Young & Jackson in Melbourne and then attended the Carlton-Geelong AFL game at the MCG. This means the infection would not have occured at the Ballan hotspot.
Also reported overnight is a new case at a Barwon Heads Primary School. The school has been closed for a deep clean as contact tracing begins. It is not yet known if the infection is linked to a teacher or student at the school. The Geelong Advertiser reports the Bacchus Marsh Grammar teacher allegedly lives in the Barwon region.
