Almost a dozen fire vehicles – including air support – have raced to Morrisons, where a bushfire has destroyed half an acre of land at a pine plantation.

The blaze was first reported by personnel in a fire spotting tower just before 3pm (Monday) in an area between Dollys Creek and Ballan-Meredith roads.

At its height almost a dozen fire units were fighting the blaze.

The CFA said it was contained by 4.30pm and under control by 5.30pm.

Private firefighters from Colac-based company AKD Softwoods will patrol the scene overnight.
