A young father who robbed the Golden Fleece Hotel 3 times between November 2018 and January 2020 has been jailed for 26 months.

Shaun Wos, 33, fell into a life of drugs and gambling which ultimately became uncontrollable.

Wos had a full-time job, a house in Caroline Springs and a young family when he was arrested for three terrifying armed hold-ups at the popular Melton hotel.

In the three armed hold-ups, the court heard that Wos armed himself with a large kitchen knife before stealing money from the till.

He stole a total of $3220.

The court heard that his drug addiction led to drug debts, high interest loans and falling behind on his mortgage payments.

Wos had to sell his home, also declared bankruptcy to clear a $34,000 debt.

Judge Lauristsen sentenced Wos to 2 years and 2 months jail with a non-parole period of 18 months.
