A boy in his early teens and two primary-aged children have been taken to hospital after a collision involving a Diggers Rest CFA tanker and a car at Truganina.

The collision happened at 5.30pm yesterday (Wednesday) near the corner of Forsyth and Elmhurst roads – as a grass-and-scrub fire raged a few streets further south on vacant land in Dover Street.

Paramedics said the children were all treated for minor injuries.

No one was trapped.

A Watch and Act alert was issued for Truganina at 6pm, as the fire burned out of control towards Clovelly Circuit.

Firefighters were later able to slow its spread and the blaze was under control by 8pm.
