Police are speaking with a 20-year-old Weir Views learner driver after his car careered through the loungeroom wall of a home in Melton South this evening.

The drama unfolded at a roundabout on the corner of Rees and Wilson roads just before 6.30pm (Wednesday), when the car lost control and ran through the front of the single-storey brick home.

Police said the learner driver was unaccompanied at the time – and he is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.

One CFA tanker from Melton has attended and made the scene safe, while Melton SES volunteers stabilized the Wilson Rd home.

Police said paramedics had attended and the driver was taken to Western Health in Footscray for observation.

There were two people inside the home at the time however they were not injured.

Officers said the house sustained minor damage during the incident.

The CFA said a City of Melton building inspector was due to attend to assess any structural damage.
