Provisional results from the Victorian Electoral Commission show that Ally Munari has claimed Moorabool’s Woodlands ward – which includes Myrniong, Greendale, Blackwood and Gordon.

Preferences in the close three-way race were counted this afternoon (Wednesday) and show:

** Ally Munari won by 88 votes (gaining 51.5 per cent of the vote on a 2-candidate preferred basis),

** John Keogh finished second (gaining 48.5 per cent of the vote against Ms Munari),

** Phaedra Morris finished third.

After technical difficulties, the VEC website was updated at 9.45am Thursday. You can check it out here.

If a recount is requested, it may be several days before the final result is known.

The VEC was due to post the provisional results on its website today, but said there had been technical difficulties.

Ms Munari is a Gordon-based small business operator, farmer and mother of young children. She has been contacted for comment.

Mr Keogh is a retired engineer based in Pentland Hills (Central ward) and served for many years on the Bacchus Marsh Shire, Moorabool Shire and Mt Alexander councils. He was elected as an East Moorabool ward councillor in 2016.

Ms Morris is a Blackwood based website designer and was vocal in the No Wombat Gold campaign to stop large-scale industrial mining in the Wombat and Lerderderg forests.
