After an overwhelming response, a Bacchus Marsh woman is offering free 10-minute ‘bling’ sessions to children with birthdays affected by COVID19.

Sheree Mayfosh from Dancewear on Grant said after more than 70 families took up the offer, she will continue the volunteer service right up until Christmas.

“If it makes our kids happy, it makes me happy,” she said.

“I feel like I want to give back to the community because locals have been very good to me over the years.

“The bling idea began with my granddaughters a few months ago, after they were forced to celebrate their birthdays in lockdown.

“It really took off when I started doing it for the general public and for a while there I had to extend my hours.”

Sessions are also done in the shop and adhere to social distancing.

Children can choose to have hair chalk, hair glitter, stick-on jewels, nail polish and more.

At the end of the session each birthday girl (or boy) gets a pretend ‘champagne’ (cordial) and a lolly cup.

They are also greeted at the door by their name on a special birthday blackboard.

Parents wanting to book in their children should SMS or call 0411 016 669.

Dancewear on Grant is located opposite Maddingley Park.
