Smoke coming from fridge in a storeroom has led to the evacuation of Bacchus Marsh Coles.

The CFA received the first calls at 11.28am (Saturday), when smoke was visible in the open supermarket area.

Bacchus Marsh CFA volunteers and Melton Fire Rescue Victoria personnel attended – and the problem was isolated to the storeroom.

The CFA said Coles management and a refrigeration mechanic had since been called in – and staff followed their emergency management plan

Police were requested to help with the evacuation.

Paramedics were called to the scene at 11.32am and treated a woman believed to be in her 20s for nausea.

She was taken to Sunshine Hospital as a precaution.

The incident was initially reported as a gas fire.
