The Ballan Lions Club barbecue is back this weekend… with a difference.
The fundraising barbecue is usually attached to the Lions market on the first Saturday of the month – on Saturday October 24 it will take the form of a COVID-safe ‘drive-through’ at Springfields Garage.
“You just drive in, place your order at the start of the line, then you can collect your sausage or hamburger at the end,” the club’s Sharon Murphy said.
“It’s all about the Lions Club coming back into the community.
“We’ve been unable to do much because of the lockdowns.
“We really need to raise some funds – it’s been very hard – we also want to do something for locals.”
On top of that it also the official VEC election day for Moorabool Council – although your ballot paper will have to be posted or delivered on Friday afternoon to be valid.
It’s also the day of the AFL Grand Final between Richmond and Geelong. The big game at the Gabba gets going from 7.30pm (Victorian time).
The drive-though democracy sausage sizzle will operate at 115 Inglis St from 10am-1pm, Saturday.
Proceeds go to Lions projects across the community.
The next Lions Club market will be a twilight event on December 5.
