ADVERTORIAL

With restrictions keeping everyone at home, it’s easy for Victorians to lose confidence in themselves with their physical & mental health, which may be neglected.

Bacchus Marsh Personal Trainer & Mental Health Advocate, Jake Pearson, believes that the effects of being locked away from friends and family and restricted to where they can go and exercise is the biggest contributor to Victorian’s struggling with their physical and mental health.

Mr. Pearson advocates taking care of one’s physical and mental health after suffering from anxiety and low self-esteem from the age of 10.

“I believe I’d still be shackled by mental illness if I didn’t turn my focus toward my body & lifestyle”, said Mr. Pearson.

This journey has led Mr. Pearson to podcasting, to share his message and provide inspiration and support to those struggling with their physical and mental health.

“There are 6.6 million Victorian’s who have had their lives altered this year and I believe these lockdowns are going to take a toll on someone close to every single one of us, physically or mentally,” Mr. Pearson said.

“There is a feeling of hopelessness and feeling lost within the broader community, with so many people not feeling in control of their health and it’s showing.”

“The longer it takes for these restrictions to ease, the harder it will be on Victorian’s to pull themselves out of the rut they’re in and they need the support now physically & mentally, more than ever before.”

“For me, I really struggled during the first lockdown and often found myself anxiously thinking about how I couldn’t wait to start exercising in a gym, I was losing so much confidence in my own body and that had a big effect on my mental health,” Mr. Pearson said.

“During the second lockdown, it’s been significantly easier to stay consistent and I have been in a much better place physically and mentally so much so that it hasn’t been an issue at all.”

If can help provide other Victorian’s with tips on how to regain gain control of their health and well-being, then it’ll go a long way to help the state recover as whole”, said Mr. Pearson.
