Melton Police have arrested four people after an incident in Harkness last night.

It is alleged an estimated 40 youths were gathered on an oval in Long Tree Drive around 5pm (Tuesday), and began throwing bottles around when officers arrived.

“As police were attempting to disperse the group, one police officer was struck to the back of the head and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries,” Leading Senior Constable Rohan Imms said.

“Police arrested three males and a female as the remainder of the crowd dispersed.”
