Ballan and Ballarat Police have seized several firearms from a property in Gordon.

The drama began on Wednesday morning when officers were conducting a routine vehicle check.

After speaking to the 43-year-old driver, police served him with a suspension notice after being deemed not a fit and proper person to hold a firearms licence.

The Gordon man is also expected to be charged on summons with firearms storage offences.
