The Moorabool and Melton Council areas have both seen record daily jumps in the number of new COVID19 cases today (Saturday).

Three new cases have been confirmed in Moorabool – bringing the number of active cases to nine. The Shire has only seen 12 cases since the pandemic began.

In the City of Melton, 31 new cases have been reported. It remains the eighth-worst-affected municipality in Victoria for active cases, on 195. The all-time total is now 318.

The neighbouring Wyndham Council area continues to be the worst-affected Local Government Area in the state with 474 active cases and 756 since February.

The City of Greater Geelong has 29 active cases, taking its total to 104 since the start of the year.

The City of Ballarat has seen one fresh case today, meaning 11 cases are active.

Macedon Ranges has eight active cases; Golden Plains six and Hepburn has none.

All up, 357 new cases have been reported in Victoria today.

Five people have also died in the last 24 hours: women aged in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s as well as a man in his 80s.

It brings the state death toll to 61.

Yesterday alone, 20,013 COVID19 tests were processed.

## In the last 24 hours, Victoria Police have issued 97 fines to people breaching the Chief Health Officer’s directions – including 14 issued at road checkpoints and 11 issued for failing to wear a face covering in public.

Police have conducted 1038 spot checks at homes, businesses and public places and with the help of defence force personnel they have also checked 22,983 vehicles.

In one case a Melbourne driver was caught at a checkpoint in Bendigo, telling police he was on his way to see a friend in Rochester.

## COVID19 symptoms include cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose and loss of smell.

People can also book a test at Darley Medical Centre on 5367 5000.
