Corona Virus - Covid-19
Today’s stats from DHHS show an increase of 3 cases in the Melton LGA, with total active cases at 21. Melton LGA has moved down the list from the 9th most infected area to 11th. Moorabool in comparison still sits on 3 total cases with zero active. Wyndham has also shot up with 120 active cases, an increase of 15 overnight. It has been 24 hours since the announcement of the new lock down for Metropolitan Victoria. While many people are coming to terms with a new normal, (at least for the next 6 weeks), there is still some confusion over what the lock down means for the borders between metro and regional. Melton is Metro, Bacchus Marsh is regional. Schools is one of those areas that was immediately a grey area. If you live in Melton LGA but go to school in Bacchus Marsh, we understand that you may attend school unless otherwise specified. This could change before Monday as this is a quick moving story. There are only 3 reasons for people in a locked down area to travel to Moorabool shire, They are, shopping for essential items, Caring for somebody that needs it or for medical reasons/treatment and for works or study if you can’t do it from home. Exercise in restricted postcodes will be allowed. You can leave your home to exercise alone, with members of your household or with one other person outside your household. You may not go from a Metro area to a regional area to do this though.
If you and your partner live in separate houses, you may visit each other under the lock down rules. This includes travelling out of metro to regional Victoria. This means if you live in Melton but your partner lives in Bacchus Marsh, you may visit each other. People in locked down areas are not allowed to travel into regional areas for any other reason than listed. leaving a grey area for many other reasons. We are unable to advise on what is allowed and what is not without specific clarification. If you have specific questions about what you can and cannot do, you should direct your question to the COVID19 hotline, 1800 020 080. If you have been in close contact with a person that has tested positive, or you have flu like symptoms please ensure you are tested. Poll: Do you think Bacchus Marsh needs a drive thru testing station like the one in Melton?

    • Travelling for Medical reasons is allowed under the rules. We would suggest speaking to your GP about getting a letter to help plead your case if you are stopped.
