As a sponsor of Keeleys Cause, Ballan Computers is excited to bring you some great news. The Ballan Teenager behind the charity has been honoured with a Diana Award.

A Ballan girl who started a charity at age 13 has been named in the Roll of Honour for the 2020 Diana Awards.

Keeley – of Keeley’s Cause fame – was named in a YouTube live video on what would have been Princess Diana’s 59th birthday (Wednesday July 1).

184 inspirational children and young people were presented with the highest accolade a young person can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts.

Prince Harry was a special guest in a hour-long live presentation.

Keeley – with the help of family, friends, community and Lions club members – founded the charity in 2017 to raise money for iPads to help children with communication disabilities

More than 100 iPads have been handed out so far.

Organisers said the Diana Award was about changing communities and the world.

“These exceptional young people have this year demonstrated their ability to inspire and mobilize their own generation to service their communities through campaigning, volunteering, fundraising, fighting injustice or overcoming extreme life challenges,” they said.

The Duke of Sussex, on behalf of him and his brother, surprised the changemakers with a congratulatory video message and to give a special mention to those people who have been awarded for their work on issues related to race and injustice.”

Prince Harry said he was proud to be involved in the awards:

“You are all doing such incredible work and at a time of great uncertainty, you have found the power and inspiration inside of you to make a positive mark on the world, and I love that The Diana Award is able to help you do it.

“I know that my mother has been an inspiration to many of you and I can assure you she would have been fighting your corner.

“Right now, we’re seeing situations around the world where division, isolation and anger are dominating as pain and trauma come to the surface.

“But I see the greatest hope in people like you and I’m confident about the worlds future and its ability to heal because it is in your hands.”

Guest presenters at the 2020 awards also includes James McVey of The Vamps, Liam Payne from One Direction, Miranda Hart, Steph McGovern, Dan Smith from Bastille, and actor Dame Emma Thompson.
