Member for Western Victoria MP Bev McArthur has called on the Andrews government to re-open rural Victoria based on Local Government Area (LGA). This would allow rural Victoria to get back on it’s feet ad start to recover from the coronavirus crisis.
Victorian hotspots are driving the closure of areas that have no cases at all. Rural Victoria continues to be punished for Melbourne’s surging suburban COVID-19 cases.
The numbers match this too, Hume, Brimbank, Moreland, Moonee Valley, and Casey leading the ladder when it comes to COVID-19 cases. Overall, these areas have 184 out of the 321 currently active cases.
Moorabool has not had a confirmed case since March, while Hepburn, Ballarat, Ararat, Central Goldfields and Horsham are all without an active case.
UPDATE: As we posted this story, the Andrews Government announced further lock downs based on postcodes.
The following postcodes are in shut down again for four weeks. 3012, 3021, 3032, 3038, 3042, 3047, 3055, 3060 and 3064.
