The Federal Government is handing over $1.281 million to fix up roads, bridges and other infrastructure in the Moorabool Shire.

It’s part of a $500 million program to help Australia’s 537 Local Government areas.

Hepburn Council has been given $968,000 while the City of Ballarat has been allocated $1.532 million.

Ballarat Federal Labor MP Catherine King (pictured) said while the money was a start, it wouldn’t stretch far enough.

“Councils across our region have long lists of great projects that have been waiting years for funding. I look forward to seeing some of these projects get the funding they deserve,” she said.

“$3,783,438 won’t stretch very far when you consider all the road, bridge, intersection and other infrastructure upgrades that are needed across Ballarat, Hepburn and Moorabool.”

“To drive Australia’s recovery from this crisis, the Government needs to announce a comprehensive plan to bring forward investment across the nation – this means investing in everything from small roads and roundabouts to bigger projects like upgrades to rail and major roads.”
